I Engineer Clarity
for a Living

For 30 years, I've been solving the same problem: I see what others miss. I've primarily worked with technology companies in luxury markets, and the pattern is always the same.

The engineering is exceptional. The market comprehension is poor. That gap is where I thrive.

The Path to Clarity Engineering

Early

Fell in Love with the Problem

Started in B2B design and discovered my real obsession: making complex technology understandable. Not simpler. Understandable.

2003

First Industry Award

CEDIA Best UI Design. The industry noticed what happened when design was driven by clarity instead of aesthetics.

2006

Patent Granted

USPTO patent for Structured Playlists and User Interface (Kaleidescape). Proof that the method works at the product level, not just the marketing level.

2008

Went Solo

Left the agency world to build my own practice. 18 years later, still solo, still selective, still obsessed with the same problem.

2023

Best of Show

InfoComm 2023 Best of Show UX Web App. Three decades in, and the work keeps getting sharper.

Now

Clarity Engineer

The label finally matches the work. Category design for B2B technology companies that deserve to be understood.

Solo > Agency

Most agencies sell you a team. I sell you a result. There's no layer between the insight and the execution because I am the layer. The strategist, the designer, the one writing every line of category language that goes to market. Some people call that a limitation. My clients call it the reason the work is sharper than anything their last agency produced.

I built this practice so the work could fund the life, not the other way around. Summers on a houseboat in Napa Valley. Winters cross-country in an RV. Espresso and dark chocolate at every stop. I cherry-pick the projects that light me up, and it turns out that's exactly when the work is at its best.
